KARL MALDEN

1 July 2009 - It has been a very sad few weeks and unfortunately we have had more sad news that Karl Malden (star of Beyond the Poseidon Adventure) has passed away today at the age of 97.

Karl is probably best remembered for The Streets of San Francisco, A Streetcar Named Desire and On the Waterfront.

IRWIN ALLEN TELEVISION PRODUCTIONS, 1964-1970

HARRY HARRIS

Award winning director Harry Harris passed away on 19th March 2009. Harry was a loyal member of Irwin Allen's production staff for many years, contributing immensely to the success of Irwin's productions. He was also well known for his work on other prominent television productions including Rawhide, Bonanza, Hawaii Five-O, The Waltons, Fame, Falcon Crest, and many, many more.

BOB MAY 1939 - 2009

Sunday 18th January 2009 - We have received very sad news this evening regarding Bob May, Robot from Lost in Space. Bob passed away during the night (aged 69) and the Lost in Space and Irwin Allen community has lost one of its most enthusiastic stars. The past few couple of months have been very traumatic for Bob and his family as their home and all their possessions were destroyed by the fires in California last year. Below are some of the latest news feeds.

JOHN WILLIAMS NEW COMPOSITION

Tuesday 20th January 2009 - John Williams, composer of several Irwin Allen themes, has composed and arranged Air and Simple Gifts for the Presidential Inauguration today, played by cellist Yo-Yo Ma, violinist Itzhak Perlman, pianist Gabriela Montero and clarinetist Anthony McGill.

HERMES PRESS ANNOUNCES NEW BOOKS FOR 2009-10

Hermes Press proudly announces its publication of complete reprints of all of the classic Irwin Allen television show comic book adaptations: Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea; The Time Tunnel; and Land of the Giants. Hermes Press will kick off the series by reprinting Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea Volume One in February, 2009 (soliciting in December Previews).

SCOUTCON 2008

The Land of the Giants cast recently attended a fabulous new event called ScoutCon which was held on Saturday 24th May 2008 in Tampa, Florida. Attendees included: Gary Conway, Don Marshall, Deanna Lund, Don Matheson, Heather Young, as well as Don and Deanna's daughter Michele Matheson, Mark Goddard from Lost in Space, Malachi Throne (guest in several Irwin Allen productions), Barbara Luna (Five Weeks in a Balloon), Gary Lockwood and Keir Dullea (stars of 2001: A Space Odyssey), Gil Gerard and Erin Grey (Buck Rogers), and Grace Lee Whitney and Sean Kenny (Star Trek).

If you can't find Irwin Allen's television shows on any of your local television networks, but are located in the USA, then the good news is that you can watch most of the science fiction shows online. There are several options including downloads using iTunes or Amazon Unbox. Alternatively, there are free advertising-driven broadcasts on the Hulu web site. Remember that these options are presently only available from within the US.

New or future DVD releases include Alice in Wonderland, The Lost World, and Where Danger Lives.

Lost in Space DVD box sets for all three seasons are now available in the UK and the US.
